Who We Are

Rabbi Marcia Plumb has taught Mussar for over 30 years. She is currently The Director of Jewish Life and Partnerships at the Rashi School in Dedham, MA. Prior to that, she was the Head Rabbi of Congregation Mishkan Tefila in Brookline, MA, serving there for a decade. Before moving to Boston, she served as a congregational and day school rabbi, and created and led the Spiritual Formation Program for Leo Baeck College, a Rabbinic Seminary, in London UK.

Marcia is known for her warmth of spirit and gentle, compassionate soul. Her courses are populated by young people looking to find their place in this chaotic world, parents looking for wisdom in Judaism’s ancient texts to guide them as they raise their children, and people of all ages and from all backgrounds seeking community and deep spiritual wisdom—amongst her students are devotees who have studied with her for many years, and novices who are just beginning their Mussar journeys. Marcia has taught children and senior citizens, corporate leaders and stay-at-home parents, people who identify with different or multiple religious traditions, and people who are completely secular. Additionally, Marcia has experience teaching people of diverse racial, ethnic, sexual, and gender identities. Marcia welcomes seekers from all backgrounds to explore the practice of Mussar. All are welcome.
